If you're like me and stoked for the release of Dead Rising 2, today marks a special day. Today, Capcom has released Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO onto the masses, exclusively for Xbox 360 owners. This prologue episode follows our new hero, Chuck Greene and will help bridge the gap between Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2.
CASE ZERO costs 400 Microsoft Points and any attributes, character levels (up to level 5), Prestige Points, Combo Cards, money collected and alternate outfits will transfer into Dead Rising 2 when you begin. Dead Rising 2 is set to launch September, 28th, 2010. But until then, expect to spend a lot of time in Vegas..err.. Still Creek, in CASE ZERO.
And lo, the internet did explode into a fit of epic rage. If you buy your Xbox Live Gold as a yearly subscription, which is the best way to do so, you will be paying $10 more starting this November. This works out to a rounded $0.83 per month increase, and honestly, this isn't a big deal.
If you don't buy it yearly for whatever reason (not enough money at the time, just don't feel like it, whatever), the increase is a lot more noticeable. The one month subscription cards are going up from $7.99 to $9.99, and the three month cards will be going from $19.99 to $24.99.
I gotta say, I am really finding it hard to get upset about this. Aside from the fact that I won't need to renew at this cost until next September, even someone as broke as me can't find a good argument against what works out to be less than a dollar a month. Not to mention places like Amazon always has deals on Xbox Live Gold subscriptions.
This bit of news is a little frustrating for me, because I have been saving some MS Points specifically for this title. I wake up this morning, and what is one of the first bits of news I see? Dead Rising 2: Case 0 is going to be delayed. The official reason? There were some things in the Free Trial version of the downloadable title that shouldn't be there. Capcom hasn't said what needs to be fixed, or when it will be actually available, but hopefully it is soon.
UPDATE - It looks as though this may be a Japan-only delay. As soon as we hear back from Capcom, we will let you know for sure.
UPDATE #2: Capcom has issued a statement that Case Zero will NOT be delayed in North America, only in Japan.

Four years ago today, Matt started DigitalSomething, while we've had our highs and lows we can't be anything but thankful for everyone that visits, comments or joins in on the forums. This year we launched the DigitalSomething Podcast, huge thanks for everyone that has chipped in, including I Fight Dragons for the killer soundtrack and our own HarleyQuinn for voiceovers. We also began a new article with Independency and we pulled another good April Fool with the Virtual Handheld announcement.
So here's a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DigitalSomething.com you're 4 years old now... but why is Jeremy still wearing a diaper?
Borderlands is getting some more DLC next month, a full year after the game's release. So far, the DLC has brought us arena combat, a secret armory, and zombies. This new DLC is going to bring us more Claptraps. These are not regular Claptraps though. This is Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, and it is being led by a Ninja Assassin Claptrap. Sounds strange and awesome at the same time, and we will be able to find out for ourselves just how cool it is in September for $10.
The first three episodes of Keiji Inafune's multipart film Zombrex Dead Rising Sun has arrived on Xbox Live today. The first episode features an introduction by Inafune and the third episode with him explaining his motivations for the project. The episodes will also be available Dead Rising Sun's official website starting on August 11th.
Slim week this week, as we see a new Sing It game and Chuck E Cheese's Party Games. Though the week could be saved with re-release of Record of Agarest War for Xbox 360...
