LittleBigPlanet: Play. Create. Share? Think Again.
Posted: November 9, 2008 - 8:11 pm by markdelete

Hopefully the past few weeks you have spent playing LittleBigPlanet, you got to get online when the servers actually were up. Most likely you got to play the Super Mario recreations, a cool God of War themed level, Batman saving Gotham and maybe even some Metal Gear based creations. Well at least you got to play them once because those are all gone. Just about everything and anything that even remotely sounds like a coyprighted IP, like maybe a title for you level that may share the same title as a movie yet have nothing to do with said movie, has gotten deleted. So much for the incentive to even create something only to chance that it will be deleted and never able to be shared again for a reason that the LBP overlords will never share with you. Yet another strike against what could have been the greatest game of this year and possibly greatest game ever. You have to check out the battle in the LittleBigPlanet Fourms.

Now of course we can see why it's possible that LBP can not have a bunch of Mario levels hanging about. By now, Nintendo is surely crapping themselves because this is the platformer they never created and now the community is biting on exactly what put Nintendo at the top.

What boggles my mind is why levels sharing movie titles but not based on the movie are being banned. Why can't there be a Batman themed level with bat shaped items with the goal to "save Gotham"? While the character and the name of the city is not original, the entire level design would be. The creator has spent hours upon hours that have just been wasted and tossed in the trash. Why would that person even bother creating another level again? Why would anyone else want to create something when the possibility of it just being deleted for some reason looms about? Why is Sony or MediaMolecule so inclinced to just ruin LBP's chance of true greatness with so much paranoia? We may never know.

Another aspect to think about is, they gave away free God of War sackboy costumes and Metal Gear Solid themed costume is on the way. So what is the point of having these costumes and NOT creating a level to match the costumes?! It is pretty ridiculos.

Wow, that is some serious BS. It takes away most of the fun of the game! Well, I guess now I have no reason whatsoever to want a PS3... damn it Sony! Get your crap together!

if LBP was the only game you wanted, then that makes sense but if you are spending 400 on a system for just 1 game, that is a little crazy too.

Whats the point of user content if they are just going to delete anything! Sony is starting to piss me off to the point I don't want a PS3!

GH Tunes on Guitar Hero is the same way. Can't use anything that is copyrighted.

I'd hate to see that Metal Gear Solid theme disappear, that was impressive as hell.

On a side note, I want that Sackboy in the picture!!
