BIT.TRIP BEAT Bringing New 8-Bit Style to WiiWare
Posted: January 14, 2009 - 1:55 pm by Jeremy

Gaijin Games and Aksys are going to be bringing a new game to WiiWare titled BIT.TRIP BEAT, and if the first gameplay video is any indication, this will be one of the best games available on the service.

I'm not really sure what to say to properly describe this game, so I will just let the game's creators do the talking.  Hit the jump to check out the video and see what the devs have to say.

We wanted to make a game that used the tools of today to inspire the fun of yesterday. Our goal was to make a game that was as simple in gameplay as the games of the early 80s and equally as fun—even though gamers’ tastes have changed over the years.

This led us to the classic style that permeates all aspects of the game, from the gameplay, to the art, to the music. Like most classic games, BIT.TRIP BEAT is deceptively difficult. It pulls you in with easy-to-use controls but then beats you down with difficulty levels that rival our favorite games of the 80s.

While the game can be difficult, if you crank up the tunes and get in the zone, you’ll have a great time. Performing perfectly isn’t required to experience all the game’s content, but the extra challenge will keep score-hunters coming back in search of each level’s elusive “PERFECT” score.

You can also head over to the official site and while you are there, you can download a great little music track from the media page.
