I'm not kidding.  This is what the Guinness Book of World Records is claiming that Super Mario Kart is the most influential game ever. They decided to put together a list of the top 50 video games of all time.

In case you're not aware, Guinness has a Gamer Edition that they release every year. Now while the book does have some interesting facts and sales numbers, I quickly become defensive when people want to put out a list of the top 50 ranked on their initial impact and lasting power.

Maybe it's because I'm old school, and by old school I mean I remember opening my Atari 7800 on Christmas morning and playing Pole Position all night long.  I still have my 7800 actually and a number of games still in the boxes.  Anyways, back to the list.

I don't know where to begin.  I have some serious questions about the entire list and would love to find out who the "industry experts" were that they hired for the job.  Now I understand that they were going for console games but when you are talking about video games in general, they are missing some very key titles.
