Wal-mart and Best Buy Bail on Used Games
Posted: February 2, 2010 - 3:43 pm by Brandon

Last year both Wal-mart and Best Buy attempted to gain a foothold in GameStop's monopoly on used games by using kiosks provided by a company known as E-Play in a few test locations. However it looks like E-Play is finished and both retailers are ceasing their efforts to cash in on GameStop's business model.

Since the two retailers started doing trade-ins, analysts have predicted they would have no effect on GameStop whatsoever and it looks like they were right. Even before E-Play left the picture, the kiosks had little success.

However, it's worth noting that Amazon is still supporting its own video game trade-in system.

Does this news surprise anyone? Have any of you seen these kiosks in your local retailers? And what do you do with a game when you're finished with it?
