Rock Band Priced and Dated
Posted: September 28, 2007 - 3:26 pm by Jeremy
Today, Harmonix has confirmed the release dates and prices for Rock Band, and I am totally scratching my head on this one!

For the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the price is $169 USD, and the PS2 version is $159. Both bundles include the Fender guitar controller, a microphone, and the drum kit. Not a bad price for all of that, but that's not where the problem is.

While the PS2 version comes out on the relatively safe date of December 10, but the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions come out on Friday, November 23. This is no ordinary Friday though. This is Black Friday. The single busiest shopping day of the year in the US. The day that, if you aren't careful, you would easily get trampled by the rushing crowds of Mothers and Grandmothers trying to get those $10 DVD players.

My suggestion here is to order the game online. Otherwise, it's going to be a very tough find at most (if not all) retail stores for a while.

It's a smart business move to get a highly anticipated title out for the holiday rush, and what better time than Black Friday. It's almost guarenteed to sell out and make big $$$. Sure people are going to bitch that they can't get their hands on it at stores. But, more stock will come in and more than likely before Dec 25th and more than likely sell out.

It's not like it will be super hard to find like the Wii has been since it's release. But rather than order online, why not hit up an EB or GameStop-type place and reserve it if you are worried about getting a "must have".

Personally, I doubt I'll be getting Rock Band when It's first released anyway. $170 for one game is kinda rediculous, even w/ all the instruments. Sure it's different than spending $130 on Halo 3 for a super-sweet Helmet. But still.

I'm assuming that you can still get just the game by itself, that is just for the full set.
