Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction Bug and Workaround
Posted: October 24, 2007 - 8:04 am by Matt
It looks like the quick release of the latest Rachet and Clank adventure has not gone without problems. Apparently the game contains a gameplay stopping bug in which the game tell you that you don't have enough HD space.
"With specific amounts of free space on your drive, you may see a screen that tells you have insufficient space to create game data even though there is plenty of free space on your drive." He remains decidedly non-specific regarding said "specific amounts," but at least the man provides a workaround. If you encounter the problem, "either delete or add about 500MB of data to your hard drive and the problem will go away." You'll know you've won when you can actually play the game.

I'm sure we'll see a patch soon as Sony does not want this to hinder anyones chance to play one the best PS3 releases to date.

You'd think something like that is why companies have playtesters...

True. But not releasing a game does not make you money.

I've made a good amount of money not releasing a game.

Ok. I guess my statement was made assuming you had invested millions in creating said unreleased game as opposed to not having invested any money at all.

But, if they can afford to Patch it, then it would have been fixable in the first place and they would have only be set back a little.

Someone was sleeping on the job.

Some things get overlooked when u have a solid deadline.

This is true. Sometimes a company has to weigh which they'd rather deal with: the loss of money pushing back a date costs them versus releasing it early but having a patch ready relatively quickly. I have to imagine that if it was a known issue that they felt couldn't be resolved quickly, they would've have delayed it despite any monetary concerns.

With the way you can update games on consoles now, I'm sure they were like "eh, we'll just patch it afterwards and no one will 'bitch'.. much" ha.
