GameStop no longer offering Xbox 360 product replacement plans
Posted: October 27, 2007 - 3:24 pm by Matt
Thanks to tipster Chadly, we now have word that all GameStop stores have been ordered to no longer offer the product replacement plan (PRP) for Xbox 360 consoles.
PRPs are generally known in retail as an easy way to make money. Only a small percentage of customer who purchase the PRP actually use them within the allowed time. A call to our local GameStop has also confirmed the report. When asked if the company still offers a product replacement plan on the console, the employee stated that they no longer offered the plans but did not know the exact reason. Was Gamestop losing too much money due to the red rings? This seems like the only logical explanation as the PRP can still be purchased for every other available console. Now that a company the size of GameStop has recognized the problem maybe Microsoft will finally step up and offer a real solution for their customers Reader Comments
