Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - HD?

What if Sega was to revisit Sonic and give it the same treatment Capcom is giving Street Fighter 2? You would have one amazing looking game.

I'm dreaming the same dream. 2D gaming is a forgotten and neglected platform. A lot of developers are trying to get back to their roots, and they should all take a page out of Capcom's book. Sonic has suffered terrible criticism in the 3d world, at least the handheld titles seem to recapture some of his charm. Developers these days have done a better job getting in touch with their consumers, It's taken them forever but finally Nights: Into Dreams is getting the attention it deserves. Who's to say somewhere down the road Sega will give us the super charged 2D speedscroll game we've all been waiting for. I couldn't tell you how many hours I've put into Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 3.

Sonic is dead my friends. I know it hurts, but it's the truth. The only way Sonic will be 2-d is on a hand held. The days of the mascot with "-tude" are over.
