Street Fighter IV details emerge
Posted: December 6, 2007 - 8:16 am by Lupe

As prophesized earlier, the Street Fighter series finally has it's first true sequel in 10 years. And in even better news, the game will still battle it out - in 2D!

Announced at midnight this morning, with an extremely gorgeous single picture of Ryu in all of his 3D glory, Capcom has announced Chun-Li, and Dhalsim are set to return along with a plethora of as of yet unannounced cast.

In spite of the 3-D graphics shown of our beloved Ryu, Capcom has promised all of the faithful that SFIV's fighting will infact be played with a 2-D engine. The other more obvious characteristics are the new characters and locations. What isn’t known is exactly which platform(s) the game will promote (or should I say sell) as Capcom is holding on to that little nugget for a more opportune time. I suggest buying all of them to be sure that your fully covered.

If you’re a gamer and you have a soul, then you are immediately excited about this title’s debut. As soon as we know more we’ll be all over the coverage, and drop it as soon as it hits.

KEEP IT HERE!

2D fighting games are dead. It's 8-way movement or nothing! ~_^

Death to Scott! No 3D fighter will ever be able to touch a good 2D if you ask me.

I was kidding, personally I think 3D fighting games are too easy compared to a good 2D fighting game.

It'll just be another game that Matt will be too afraid to play me fair and square because he knows my dominance of these games.

"I think 3D fighting games are too easy"

they are to easy when the engine is neglected by the players involved and it devolves into a round of button-mashing.

Well any fighting game is like that though. I'm saying with only 2 directions to move in it's more challenging trying to dodge folks attacks in a 2D game over a 3D game w/ 8 way movement.

"I heard otherwise."

Then you clearly didn't hear the whole story. Allow me to enlighten you.
It's possible that the part about him having a fully functional 8-way joystick while I was forced to use a half functional 4-way joystick and only 2 attack buttons to his 6 was left out of the tale you heard.

And that's the rest of the story.
