GameStop opening "tournament" stores
Posted: December 11, 2007 - 5:53 pm by Matt

Normally when I see GameStop news in my inbox it is just them boasting of their billion dollar profits.  Well today something different was announced.  GameStop is opening it's first tournament-focused store which will combine your typical retail space with a 4,000 square foot tournament center.

The first store of this type will be opening in San Jose, Calafornia.  The tournament area will feature 24 networked gaming stations all equiped with plasma screens.  GameStop plans on holding the first tournament this weekend to "christen the new facility".  The game of choice? Madden NFL '08.

According to GameStop, the San Jose store is acting as a prototype for other stores in the future.  We'll keep you posted if and when we hear of other GameStop Tournament stores opening.

I wonder if they planned for mothers dumping their kids off while they go shopping.
