Battlefield Heroes goes free and cartooney

Battlefield Heroes

Electronics Arts announced today that is will release Battlefield Heroes this summer at the low price of...FREE! The game, which from the one piece of art shown looks to draw inspiration from the recent Team Fortress 2.

Battlefield Heroes is a brand new game from the team behind Battlefield 1942™ and Battlefield 2™. It’s fun cartoon-style graphics and gameplay caters to players of all skill levels. It is easy to pick up and play but with robust character customization and a deep online meta-game, gamers can spend hours building up their characters and conquering the world.

Battlefield Heroes will be freely available to download and play. To offset the costs of development, the game will be supported by what appears to be non-intrusive ads throughout the menus and loading screens. It will be only be available as a download and won’t cost you a dime.

Not much else is known on Battlefield Heroes at this time. Look for more information when the March issue of Game for Windows hits store shelves, which features a cover story on the game.
