Here's some news for your Friday. T3 is reporting that a slimmer PlayStation 3 is on its way.

Now while this is not something new to Sony who has a history of slimming their consoles down, this news does come very early into the life of the PS3.

In case you don't remember, Sony did this with their PS One and PS2 but they took their time while doing it. We don't have a date yet but sources are pointing to this fall. This could be pretty cool news for those of us who are holding out on Sony's Blu-ray machine. They recently did shrink down the Blue-ray laser so this may be a sign that a new light weight PS3 is on its way.
