Nintendo E3 Conference - Live Updates!

The Big N's conference is just getting underway, and just like last night's Microsoft conference, we will be providing you with live updates.

Starts out with a talking NES system, clips of the media praising the Wii and the DS.

Reggie is on the stage, along with his Mii. Reggie says he is happy.

Today is a celebration. This E3 is a gaming turning point.

Seen as the time video games take their place among other media as a staple of entertainment. Everyone is a gamer.

Game sales are up 114% in Japan, almost 50% in the US and over 40% in the UK.

So far this year 69% of all game industry growth is from Nintendo products.

Portable systems and home systems are split 50/50. The DS is leading industry growth. In the US, the DS is 25% of all game hardware sales.

Players over 25 years old account for 1/3 of all video game sales.

1/3 of all Nintendo system sales are female gamers.

Games like Nintendogs, Brain Age, and Wii Sports are pulling more gamers in.

Reggie says he knows people are thinking it's a fad, and if he were in their shoes, he would say the same thing, but the reality is that DS has sold over 40 Million systems, Wii has been effectively sold out for 33 Weeks. The Wii is very close to taking over the #1 spot. Nintendo is the future.

By Christmas, over 140 new DS games, and over 100 new Wii games.

First Pictures of the Wii Zapper shown. Looks kind of like a SMG.

Umbrella Chronicles will be playable at E3. Zap-a-zombie is better than Whack-a-Mole.

Ghost Squad will use the Zapper.

EA's new Medal of Honor will support Zapper AND 32 PLAYER MULTIPLAYER.

Zapper will be bundled with Nintendo software for only $19.99!

Showing Soul Calibur Legends, WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 on the Wii and DS.

Dragon Quest Swrods for the Wii early next year.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl footage shown.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be out on December 3rd.

Video reel shown. More hype for the DS and Wii.

Someone is now demoing Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while someone else is discussing the touch controls.

Phantom Hourglass is one of the best-selling Zelda game in Japan.

Now someone is coming out to play Metroid Prime 3.

Switching visors on the fly with gestures.

MP3 features Free-Aiming Lock-On. You can lock on to a central point and strafe around it, but you can still aim anywhere on the screen.

Reggie is back out and talking about the Online Gameplay. He says Nintendo already has gotten serious about the WFC, and we just haven't noticed. Showing a video package about online capabilities.

5.5 Million people have played the DS online, for free.

The Wii Virtual Console has had over 5.6 million downloads, with over 112 games.

The new Channel called "Check Mii Out". You can upload your Miis, save other people's creations, and entering contests.

Talking about upcoming online Wii games... Mario Strikers, Madden 08, and FIFA 08.

FIFA will have online leagues.

Guitar Hero III is discussed.

Mario Kart Wii is announced! Online and out Q1 next year. Will also include online battle mode. Teasing more than 4 players online.

A custom Wii Wheel. It has buttons on the back.. Will be included with Mario Kart Wii.

Showing another video reel, this time focusing on non-gamers.

Iwata-san takes the stage.

He played his first video game 30 years ago.

Talking about changing the way games are played and how it has brought in the non-gamers.

Iwata-san is cooking dinner for his family on his days off thanks to the DS Cookbook.

He says he knows that hardcore gamers are worried, but he says today has shown today is not the case. Remember your first day as a gamer, and how exciting it was. And it was annoying because his parents told him he was wasting his life.

Nintendo is creating new Gamers for Life.

Nintendo's new challenge is to destroy the barrier between the veteran gamers and the new, casual gamers. We must accept that games are for everyone.

We must challenge ourselves for new game designs.

Miyamoto-san will be out shortly with a new title.

Another video reel showing Super Mario Galaxy, and Brain Age 2.

Reggie is back out talking about the two games.

He says Super Mario Galaxy is the real successor to Super Mario 64.

Super Mario Galaxy hits the US on November 12th.

Picross for the DS is shown, as is MySims for the Wii and DS.

Disney's High School Musical (blah) is shown for thw Wii and DS.

Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 is shown. "It's even nuttier"

Can the casual games grow? They think so.

Vision training game called Flash Focus is coming out in the US.

Discussing Ubisoft's My Word Coach, and My Life Coach.

Another video Reel is shown, talking about the benefits of Wii Sports, and games like Brain Age. Clip of Conan O'Brien playing Wii Tennis.

First footage of Wii Fit. A step pad is included that has left and right side sensitivity. Includes a DDR-type game. Moving a platform with your feet to roll a ball into a hole.

Miyamoto-san is out to show us Wii Fit.

The original Wii concept was: The Wii would be a device in the living room for the whole family to use together, making video games relevant to everyone in the home. And health was a big part of it.

Three fitness trainers are demoing Wii Fit on the stage.

First is a stretch while balancing game.

The DDR-style game is Step Aerobics. Stepping in time to the icons and music. Stepping not only to the front and back, but also to the sides.

Games centering on doing the correct movement and balance to help ensure you are doing them properly.

Over 40 activities in the game.

The standing device is called the Wii Balance Board. It can sense weight and balance. It will also be used for other games.

There is a measurement feature. Reggie comes out to show this feature off. you can pick light or heavy clothing. Reggis is wearing heavy clothing. The system shows the Center of gravity. There is also a graph of your Body Mass Index that can be compared to the other players. Reggie has an overweight Body Mass Index. He reminds us muscle is heavier than fat.

A Soccer game is being played where you lean to the left and right to do a header shot. Reggie wins.

Reggie is happy, but nowhere near being satisfied.

This is Nintendo's moment to lead.

Increased market share is their secondary goal. They intend to surpass the other types of media.

When this happens, they might finally be satisfied.
