This year was a huge sigh of relief for me for one reason.
I was thinking about getting a PS3, and I expected Sony's conference to talk me into it.
I had my doubts about 360, and started thinking about getting rid of mine : (
In my opinion Microsoft did a complete 180, and now I have no regrets with my 360.
The Metal Gear urge has subsided with the anticipation of Final Fantasy XIII.

The one thing that bothered me about Sony was their continuing support for PS2. Maybe they still need it as a life line, but I think they would have more success with PS3 if they "forced" the conversion. I understand it's a noble effort to continue the PS2 legacy, but I think it's time to focus the spotlight on PS3. I'm not necessarily saying they should take a lesson from Nintendo, but Gamecube fell off the face of the earth when Wii launched. Same thing happened to the Gameboy Advance after DS showed up. Some people complained (like me =P ), but I don't think it hurt their sales any.

Nintendo's conference was just as I expected. Noting much to talk about, but just enough to keep me occupied. I was hoping to see the rumored Kid Icarus, or Pikmin 3. Oh well, looks like it's just me and my Animal Crossing buddies. Nintendo's problem with me is their virtual console, they used it as a strong selling point years ago, but its turned into a compost heap of terrible games. Thankfully 360 is picking up the slack with the announcement of Banjo Kazooie. Sorry, It's a personal favorite N64 game of mine =P

To make a long story short, this years E3 reminded me of last years E3.
I'm not trying to make it sound boring, it's actually good news for me =-D
Hopefully everyone else is comfortable with their investments.

My main problem with Sony was the support for the PS2 also. over 100 new games this year for the thing? Pass the torch already.

I guess I thought Sony had a decent showing. I don't see why them supporting the PS2 is a negative thing considering all of the people who still have it. It's not like it's detracting from anything they're doing with the PS3 and from a business standpoint, it's 100% profit. Not sure when it became cool to bash Sony. Must have missed that memo.
I thought Microsoft has a solid showing and it's about damn time considering the half ass showings they've done in the past. (What? Sony's doing full backwards compatability? Uhhhh... So are we! Yeah! That's the ticket!)

Damn quotes. Here's the finish:

<we're Nintendo and you'll like what we give you> still continues to bite them in the ass, and yet, people still fall over themselves for the smallest scrap they throw. I'm glad I kicked that addiction years ago.

I'm fairly neutral in this war, Its just easier to point out things I dislike. I'd rather sound like a hater versus an exuberant fanboy. There are a lot of great things about all the platforms I failed to mention. For example with Nintendo DS and PSP I'm complete satisfied, no complaints whatsoever. I'm actually rooting for PS3 because I see their potential, I just wish they would set up a more balance business strategy like Microsoft did. It just seems like Microsoft has always tried their hardest, while Nintendo and Sony sit in the corner and wait for each other to make the first move. Nintendo being the notorious prime example, only showing off only bits and pieces. The realistic future of the Wii is an cluttering collection of attachments. However, with 360's price drop, features, and amazing line up of games. It's going to make it hard for someone debating to get a PS3 versus 360. All Sony has to do is secure the 3rd party, while bridging the gap between the DS/PSP, and continue their quest to convert people from Xbox live. It's as if the PS3 has picked up some speed, but still can't quite get off the ground. Next year I'm sure will be the same story with Microsoft, but public opinion will start to sway from Nintendo over to Sony.

so MS wins because it shows like 6 games that aren't multi-platform? 3-4 of them have no barring in converting people. Sony loses even though its only $50 bucks more for a HD movie player & free online play, plus more than just glorified Arcade remakes on its store? thats some odd logic there. Nintendo is pretty much just a joke, thats pretty obvious.

No one wins or loses, it's an individual perspective. Try to interpret this as my own marketing forecast.

As a consumer I'm more of a threat to the industry, I'm more resourceful in the art of copyright infringement. It's a rarity for me to actually go out and purchase a game at full retail price. With as fast as this industry moves I think it's nearly idiotic to pay more than 30 bucks for a new videogame. All it takes is a little research, and computer know how, and you can have an almost limitless amount of videogame for free.

What did Sony announce that has you excited?
<Pay money to watch races online.> Nope.
<God of War 3 is coming!> Cool, when? No announcement? So what, like 2010? Lame.
<Blu-Ray!!!!!> Sweet. Re-buy my DVD collection for over twice the price? No thank you, DVDs are just fine.
<Home is coming soon!!1! No sriusly!> I've heard that before. Call me when open beta arrives.
<All video game players love comic books! DC Online> No, no more MMOs.
<We have Greatest Hits already.> Cool, I'll buy Resistance and... oh wait, I have the other ones that are any good on 360.
<Resistance 2!> That should be pretty cool. Thanks Sony.
