The Game Review Factor
September 15, 2008 - 10:47 am
So as I sit here waiting for calls to come in, I'm reading various game reviews and news on the regular gaming sites that I frequent in my morning surf session.

Once that's done, I head on over to my tech sites just to see what is going on. As soon as I see the front page, I see a game review for the new Star Wars game on a non-gaming site.

I normally don't read these but I just thought I'd take a gander for the fun of it. Needless to say I walk away just confused about the review and the feeling that this person doesn't play many games and that maybe they don't know a lot of how the industry works.

I'm not going to get into the tiny details but I would like to pose the question.

What do you think of game reviews on sites that aren't gaming sites?

I don't put much weight into a review...regardless of who wrote it.

I read multiple reviews to get a broader idea of if a game is worth the $$.

But wouldn't put sole stock into a single review.

if its a review on a non gaming site...its most likely a biased review...i.e. a star wars game was most likely reviewed by a star wars fan, not a gaming fan.

game reviews from non-gaming places are just glorified ads.
