Paranormal Incorparated: Case 001
February 15, 2008 - 1:54 am
Before people bombard us with "ghosts aren't real" and "you're not going to catch anything, anyway" I would like to take the time out to briefly explain what it is that we do, our goals, and my beliefs on such matters. I started Paranormal Incorporated because this field (paranormal activity) has interested me for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, it was always there itching at the back of my brain, I would be the kid who was supposed to go to the library to get resources for school and come home with a bag full of ghost stories. The thing is, I honestly believe there are aspects of life –or rather the afterlife- that we just can't explain as of yet. I'm not even entirely sure science will ever get to the point of knowing exactly what happens. So until I am proved otherwise, I am open to the belief that there could possibly be something else going on. Whether its spirits, ghosts, or demons, I don't know. There's the catch though, I want to know, and I want to be face to face with that experience that tells me there is something ele out there outside of our own knowledge. Thus for me, establishing this group is in-and-of-itself an act of blind faith. Rather, it's a spiritual journey. I wouldn't label myself as religious; I attend church roughly once a year. I don't like all the notions that religion caries with it, and although religion is fascinating to me on all levels, I just don't like the concept of labeling myself in one solid faith. I am however, extremely spiritual, both in the form of the human soul and that of a higher power, aka God. So, in a nutshell- I gathered my troupe so to speak; of people who share the same intrigue for the unknown, and who dare to seek out and explain for themselves the unexplainable. Together we go to these so called "haunted" places with the intentions of seeking out that of which we cannot currently comprehend. So that's the why, now let me explain the what. What do we do? Its simple, we go into these haunts with our equipment and the knowledge that most paranormal activity and claims of hauntings are usually logically explained. Although we seek these experiences, we are not blinded by what it is we search for. We want the real deal, and we will settle for nothing less then solid evidence. We go in with the mindset of debunking these claims; you think you hear footprints at night? Well we'll go in and look for anything logically that could explain what causes those noises, maybe in the room over when people walk it creeks the floorboard in the other room. You hear loud bangs in the basement? Most likely you have some loose pipes that bang together when the heater runs. We look for any and all explainable reasoning; it is when we are left with none, that we will possibly consider something paranormal. Our first case was a perfect practice run. Speaking to the owner of the house I knew fairly early that the chances of us catching anything were very slim. It was a good story though: A relative of hers who lived in the original house (before it was torn down and replaced with the current residence) had committed suicide in the living room. Suicides are always hotbeds for paranormal cases (from what I've read at least). The problem was, there just didn't seem to be a lot of claims in the new house. Most of it revolved around the original house. So we spent over two hours recording both for Electronic Voice Phenomenon's (EVPs) and filming with two hand held night vision cameras. We tried to talk to the spirit and bring him out. We asked for it to touch us, to move something, to do anything that would give us personal accounts of it being there. We got nothing. We also weren't able to debunk any claims, for there really wasn't much going on other then a few strange noises. Alas, house's settle, they make noises, and without any personal experiences, it rests at that. Was it a perfectly good Saturday night wasted? By no means, we practiced our techniques, we bonded as a group, and we are now ready for our first big case. I would like to thank the client for allowing us to come out on such short notice and investigate. It was an awesome experience. Our next case is much larger. We will be investigating a whole house, not just one room. The claims are quite interesting and involve possible poltergeist activity. We'll have to wait and see. This Saturday we will be investigating and recording our first real podcast for the show. I for one can't wait! As always, if you think you're experience paranormal activity, please contact us immediately! Thank you, Joe Hickey
