Back to Bass(ics).

As most of you know, from reading previous entries in my Digitalsomething journal, I have been teaching myself to play bass guitar over the last year or so. Well, I've taught myself to play a few songs by various artists. But I've since decided to halt learning to play songs, and focus on getting to know the instrument itself. This change of focus means, not only am I going to change my focus on how I am teaching myself. But it also means I am focusing more on becoming a real musician rather than just learning to copy-cat someone else's work. As such, I have collected a few books to help me with my task at hand. These books I have mentioned previously are All About Bass and Bass Guitar: Total Scales Techniques and Applications. I figure within those pages is enough information to get me pointed in the right direction, and I also plan on picking up a book on Musical Theory and maybe even further down the line a book on songwriting. I think I've grown to be rather competent in playing my bass guitar already, and I've gone from saying "I'm learning to play" to "I play" bass when people talk to me about it, but I know there is a long road yet ahead of me. Hopefully, sooner or later, I will be able to got from "I play" to "I'm a musician". ~Scoot You must be logged in to comment.
