Vertel? Allizon? Alltell and Verizon are merging.
July 11, 2008 - 2:38 pm
Looks like Verizon and Alltel are merging. This came in my phone bill today.

"You may have recently heard that Alltel and Verizon have agreed to join together to become a single wireless company. As a valued Alltel customer, it is important that we communicate directly with you about this announcement

Be assured nothing related to your service will change for the duration of your contract. You will recieve the same great service you have come to except from Alltel. Additionally, you will see Alltel bring innovation and value to the market as we continue to serve your wireless needs.

Continue to count on benefits that will provide you with the real choices and flexibility required to meet your calling needs:
* My Circle - you choose who you call for free, any number on any network
* Anytime Plan Changes _ change your rate plan whenever you want
* America's Largest Network _ giving you coverage acros the nation

There is no action required on your part at this time. We invite you to visit us at www.alltel.com any time to learn more about new products and services availible to you. Remember you can get the most out of your wireless service at www.alltel.com/myaccount - monitor your usage, add features, vie and pay your bill, and much more!

As always we appreciate your business and look forward to serving your wireless needs.

Sincerely,
Jeffery Fox
Chief Operating Officer"

Love the "nothing related to your service will change for the duration of your contract". Which totally has to mean that once my contract is up, things will most likely be getting jacked up. I've had the same plan for like, 8 years and even though they don't have that plan around any more they've always kept it whenever I got a new phone, etc. But now with this new merger, I'm sure things will be going south, heh. Good thing I am switching to AT&T in January. They pissed me off a year and a half ago anyway. HELLLLOOOOOOOoooo iPhone!

Verizon has a great network...just pretty lame phones. I would be in heaven if I could get the iPhone on the Verizon network.

and I heard that you may use this as leverage to break from your Alltel contract.

I have a Nextel (for work) and a Verizon (for personal). I can attest that Verizon is possibly the best provider you could ask for. I despise my Nextel. I can actually lose a signal if I put my phone too deep into my khaki pants pocket. Khaki. Seriously.

Well Khaki is like x-ray proof. No wonder you lose your signal. ha. I hate Nextel phones, especially when someone is talking to you and you're explaining a product or something and someone beeps in, then they ignore you and start talking to the dude on the phone.

I have Verizon. I would like to have free calls to everyone on the Verizon network and a my circle. I only talk to like 5 people on a regular basis anyway.

You will recieve the same great service you have come to except from Alltel. Gotta love the spelling error that makes it read the service you accept from alltel. like you reluctantly took their service.

This is old news. But I work for Sprint so I will stay with the sprint service. I would not reccomend nextel sorry chris. I have no problem with my Sprint service so I have no reason to complain.
