God Damnit! That's Not Warfare!

"No Russian" in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the worst excuse for a level in a video game ever.

Any levity the mission should have had with having to live with the consequences of your actions are completely cut at the end of the level. While I won't spoil what happens, it's the exact opposite direction the game should have gone.

I will not, ever play that mission again. It's a gross attempt at developers trying to push the boundaries. If you are one of the few who doesn't have Modern Warfare 2, the game gives you an option to skip a mission at the start. TAKE IT; you'll enjoy the game a lot more then I ever will.

It definitely was an attempt to just push the boundaries and really doesn't add much to the game. That being said...I enjoyed it.

I haven't played through the level yet, but from what I've read, I'd agree with you. It seems like they could have taken a much more tasteful approach to get the same idea across.

Not to appose your argument, I take a more neutral stance toward this type of imagery or game mechanic. The game's foundation is based on killing, and already geared toward mature rated audiences. I was under the impression a majority of mature recreational gamers were also desensitized by past generations of exposure. I don't think developers intentionally intended to spark controversy, but in the whole scheme of things this is a very small issue in the world of news and entertainment.

No one is stuffing this down our throats, and yet people still want to draw lines and censor developers creativity, that's asinine. People should pick a real issue and go be a hero someplace else.

The stance is the original posting was not the fact that there was violence or civilian casualties, but how distastefully it was handled. Either include some meaningful purpose to be gunning down innocents while they scream and crawl for their lives, or cut it all together. Censoring developers is a ridiculous notion, but having a degree of tact when creating something that may be offensive is actually attainable. Not to mention the rest of the single player game was a waste.

You come across simply as a person who was not satisfied with the game expectations and has chosen one specific issue to isolate your disappointment. Why are you illustrating your experience into words, are trying to capture a horror you artificially experienced (see Rule 12)? There should be no emotion here, this is not a powerful image which questions humanity. You are aware that nature is every bit capable of these senseless and horrific acts against life, even birth is violent, and yet you seem surprised this peculiar realism has been expressed within a game about modern extremism. Why are you trying to sell this (see Rule 14)? We know your disappointed with the game's direction, that should be the end of story. By elaborating on these issues, especially the ones you dislike, you're feeding it more power, and it won't go away anytime soon (see Rule 19).
