I just left the local Target, and I think the company is going a little crazy.  I decided to check out the clearance electronics, and noticed the clearance video games.  You would probably expect to find a few of the titles they had, but the rest of them are fairly recent titles with one of them not even being 2 months old.

In a conference call this morning, a partnershipg between Apple Corp. and MTV/Harmonix was announced to create a video game based on the music of the Beatles. Although details on the game are sketchy, we know it's not a Rock Band spin-off, but will be a music/rhythm based game that Rock Band controllers can be used for. The untitled game will feature a large portion of the Beatles catalog and cover the Beatles career from beginning to end. The deal is a digital license exclusive with MTV/Harmonix, meaning that Activision, the folks behind Guitar Hero, won't be getting any Beatles songs anytime soon.

If you are a Wii owner it is time to rejoice! We all know the Wii has been lacking in the 'hardcore' games department but months ago High Voltage released details on how they plan to rectify things. Their answer comes in the form of The Conduit, an original first-person shooter. Unfortunately the game has had trouble finding a publisher. Well now Sega has announced that they will be publishing The Conduit.

Simon Jeffery, president of Sega of America, said, "The Conduit is one of the most talked-about Wii games this year, and High Voltage Software has only scratched the surface of the game in terms of what they have shown so far".

Three big titles are out this week, Fallout 3, which is the first true sequel to the Fallout series in ten years, and fans have been chomping at the bit for. Guitar Hero World Tour, which now adds Vocals and Drums to the mix, ala Rock Band. Finally last, but not least, LittleBigPlanet; though some fans were lucky enough to get their paws on LBP a bit early, you'll now be able to find the game most everywhere.

With Wii Fit & Balance Board nearly at a 30% attach rate as well as the $90 price tag, Wii Fit is set to surpass the sales of Grand Theft Auto 4 any second now. Who would have ever thought that a exercise game would make more money than the biggest selling game made for the hardcore audience. Some might say its because of the popularity of the Wii and its unstopable "casual" market. I would venture to say its quality as well, as I play my Wii Fit everyday for at least an hour and when I beat GTA 4 I traded that in before the end credits rolled.

E3 Is Back, Baby!

Earlier tonight, the guys over at G4 revealed that E3 is planning on making a huge comeback in 2009. So far, the following details have been revealed.

  • It will happen on June 2nd-June 4th at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
  • While E3 2009 still won’t be technically open to the public, the ESA plans on getting rid of the rigorous vetting procedure that has kept attendance down for the last couple of years. So expect attendance to shoot up by the thousands!
  • As for the return of booth babes… that’s still to be determined, but we have our fingers crossed.

Anyone else excited to see the Electronic Entertainment Expo become the gamers' event of the year? I know I am! The ESA will be making an official statement tomorrow and we'll have more details as they arrive, so stay tuned!
